Brief Description:  Flap rig preliminaries. (Also emp fairing; txpndr

Sanded the micro fill of the emp. fairing where it blends with the horizontal stabilizer. Sfc is ready epoxy coats, sand, prime/fill.

Preliminary fit of the flap rods showed them too long. Correct length different on the two sides due to flap depolyment weldment distortion. Took to rods home to part off requisite lengths from each end on the lathe, leaving enough for final facing.

The end of the "right angle" rod end has a plug of rather soft metal with a cone-shaped depression. It turns out hammering (gently) an Allen wrench end into the code broaches a hex that can zip up screwing the rod in and out of the flap. Just NOT to the point where the thread hits the nutplate grip zone. Don't ask me how I know....

Replaced the broken Txpndr antenna that I ran the shop vac into several weeks ago. Left a blue tape "flag" on it stating it needs final torquing (not a one man job). Turns out the continuity of the bent antenna was good. The anntena rod, it's insulation, and the center receptacle of the BNC connect can all rotate together. The antenna is probably OK to use if it checks out with an SWR meter. Well, I have a spare now.
