Brief Description:  Reamed left main for taper pin

Received Brown & Sharpe #3 taper pin reamer yesterday from MSC Direct and qty=3 AN386-3-14 taper pins today from ACS.

Reamed the left main gear leg in assembly with its weldment. Slow going by hand, but progress and chips were being made about 1/8" at a go. Decided to chuck the reamer in my big hammer drill (in drill mode!!!). Its weight would bear on the shaft and the variable speed trigger I could tickle to keep the speed at hand-turning rates. Generous Boelube used throughout the operation of course.

Stopped when the threaded-end shoulder of the taper pin was just a hair below flush with the exterior of the mounting tube. Put on the taper pin washer and torqued up the shear nut. No movement in this joint now. When I took off the nut and washer, the shoulder was just proud of the exterior of the mounting tube--dead solid perfect, for a first go, eh?
