Brief Description:  Deepen the tie-down bracket tapped holes

Bought a new 3/8-16 tap and ground the upper end so that the tap could go further into a hole. Supposed to tap the AEX's to 1.25", but was only able to get 1" or so before the thicker shaft interfered with further progress. The pre-punched wing skin holes did not line up with the AEX's, so enlarged the holes with a cutting bit in the Dremel tool, large enough for the tap to go in. (Also deepened the tail tie down AEX wedge.)

[Later, tested forged tie-down rings I bought from Van's--thread goes all the way on the tail tie-down AEX. A jamb nut is shown on the plans, so the tapped thread is plenty deep. On the winds, the base of the ring is still a bit larger that the enlarged holes in the wing skin. Will need to enlarge the holes a bit more. Will figure out a cap to fill the skin holes when the rings are not installed.]
