Today I remembered that we had a Kroger sun shade that Charlotte had purchased a couple of years ago. I climbed into the hot cockpit and closed the canopy to drill the #4 holes into the canopy bars to install the accordian folding shade. I was sweaty and afraid that I might slip off the bars and drill the plexiglass, but everything came out OK.
I then installed the name plate that EAA sends with the paperwork package. Charlotte had it engraved at some jewelry store. We are close to being legal for the inspection.
Tomorrow we leave for Portland, OR to visit friends and the cool air. I'll get some transition training with an instructor in his RV-6A and he will sign me off for a BFR. This will make me current and give me confidence for my first flight after we get our inspection, sometime in September.
