Brief Description:  Wing Skins

I spent a few hours struggling with the leading edge skins after Holly helped me flip the left wing over. It was hard to get it stretched around so the holes would line up. But then the light bulb came on! I used a couple of ratcheting straps and carefully squeezed each section, one at a time until the holes lined up perfectly. You have to keep the strap over the rib area and carefully tighten them so you don't bend the skins in the process. It worked perfectly. I worked on this step for about 2 hours until I got the idea to use straps. Nest step is to attach the trailing skins which I will do tomorrow. Then I think the skin doubler is added to reinforce the wing walk area. Then the optional light kit for the wing tips. I was also VERY WORRIED as I was putting the skin over the stall switch. It seemed to be out of alignment and didn't click. But, I tested it before in a trial fit of the skin and it was ok then. After the skins were stretched and attached all was perfect with the stall switch too. What a great kit!

Now if only I had air conditioning like my friend Trace! The sun hits my garage door in the afternoon and really heats things up.
