Brief Description:  Alodining VS Skin

I used the long troughs to treat the VS spars and doublers. This worked well. The troughs do not lie flat until they are filled, so they need to be carefully braced while filling. Once they are filled though, they work well. 3 gallons of solution pretty-much fills one trough, so this works out well too.

For the skins, I made a 4ft x 4ft tray lined with 6mil poly (vapour barrier). I installed a pvc valve and drain pipe to allow controlled drainage. 3 gallons of Alonine fills this trough to a depth of about 1/2 inch - which prooved to be just about perfect for treating the VS skin.

To assist in draining, I can put a block of wood under the pan to tip it. This is very effective a draining down the pan, so there is minimal loss of chemical. I also noticed that this trick can also be used to create a "deep-end" if a need more depth.

All of the VS parts are now Alodined. I start riveting next.
