Brief Description:  Rudder stops

3/4/20
2.2 Hours
Drilled out the six rivets on the leftt rudder cable outlet faring, Z1-5, and filed the opening a little more forward and aft. Riveted the faring back on. Setup the test for the rudder deflection of 20 deg left and right. Would only go about 13 deg before nose wheel would run into its stop. Disconnected nose wheel steering rods. Continuing on rudder stops. Will have to address the lower nose wheel block next.

Marked stops 10mm from top for rivet line. Norma held the rudder in the 20 deg deflection while I marked the stops for drilling. Pilot drilled then up drilled to 1/8". Marked where I had to notch for flange. Re-clecoed and checked for correct deflection, +/- 2 deg. Still have to notch right stop.

Did not have the SS A5 rivets called for in drawing C75-ZA-6 to attach the rudder stops so called Zenith/Roger to ask if we really needed the AS5s. He said yes or bolts becasue there is alot of pressure on the stops. Ordered 8 AS5 rivets.
2.0 Hours
Up drilled the 8 rudder stop rivet holes to 5/32 (A5 rivet size). Disassembled, de-burred and applied Cortec to both stops and fuselage. Started in on triming the nose wheel stop. Not a easy place to get to.
