Per the plans, I positioned the mates for the hinge brackets I drilled yesterday by bolting them together with the rod end bearings that will eventually be installed on the elevators. Then I drilled them to #30 and clecoed. Then I drilled out all the remaining holes for the spar strips to #31 (a little smaller than #30). I then used a #30 reamer to achieve relatively smooth accurate and burr-free holes for the rivets attaching the spar strips to the webs. I left 8 of the holes at #31 size. I'll use these holes for guides when I match-drill them to the internal HS ribs before I ream them to #30.
I disassembled the spar from the jig and began preparing the parts for primer and final assembly. This involves deburring the drill holes (even the reamer leaves a small burr) and sanding the edges smooth. The plans call for adding a notch in lower center of the spar webs to allow the elevator horn to move freely so I did that to the left web.
I should be able to finish prepping and priming the parts next time.
