Brief Description:  Wing tip lens final fitting and wing tip lights fi

1. I had brenda work the lap joints of the wing tip light cut outs so that the plexi lens will sit in the lap joint nicely and be as flush with the fibergalss.

2. Used pin stripe tape to mark final cut and sand lines of the lens while I held them firmly in position. I would cut them and then sand on belt sander until real close to final fit. I then would use a block of wood wrapped in sandpaper to do final sanding to fit. This in its self took me 2 hours plus to get done! I then beveled the edges with edge debur tool and then used sand paper to get a nice bevel on the underside and knock the ruff edge down on the outside. Once I had it where it looked to be even all around, I had Brenda follow up with some 320 grit wet sanding on the same edges for a finished look. I set aside for final install tomorrow.

3. These nav lights/strobe units have reportedly been the cause of some noise in headsets. To eliminate, it is necessary to not only use shielded wire but to ground the light housing back to its self in order to send rf noise back to the light body first. It does not look exactly like the wire drawing supplied by manufacture but Ive seen an RV7 builder pic and they showed the pics of their install to the supplier. Their comment was that was exactly how it should be done. Sorry I cant remember this builders name.. The idea is to take the ground wire from the light and connect it as close as possible back to the light body. The mount is attached to fiberglass and isnt grounded yet of course so that is why I made a second ground wire offf another screw for the mount. This means the ground will travel back to mount and then to the second ground wire and then to structure ground. The structure ground from light mount will go thru a molex connector first so that wing tip can be removed easily. You might also notice in photo that I made a backing plate from some aluminum to make sure a good connection is made between mount and mounting harware. Ypu might also note that the harness hole needs to be elongated so tha
