Brief Description:  Wing tips -3

Made a doubler from 032 to fit inside lower flange of left tip rib. It appears that the piece moved while drilling in place on the wing and obscured with the aileron. I made a rookie builder mistake and didnt even bother to look to make sure my scribe line was even visible thru the fibergalss pilot holes before finish drilling. Upon removal is when I noticed error and half the 10 rivit holes in rib on bottom flange were unusable due to edge distance or too close to desired hole location. Thus I made a doubler, Clamped in place and redrilled using the pilot holes in fiberglass tip. Once drilled, I added about 5 additional rivit holes inbetween the main holes for flush rivits to keep doubler secured and strong. I had made the piece and deburred and sanded and cleaned and then primered before adding doubler with flush rivits. Clecoed on the tip and installed tip to wing to check fit hasnt changed. I then drilled using the pilot holes on bottom and removed.

Started right side rib install and marked all center lines to 5/16 as before. I first had to mark and cut the 1/4 inch gap between aileron and tip. Once done I scribed center lines on the rib and rivit line on the tip. I then evenly spaced for 10 rivits on top and bottom (aprox 1.5 inch) and drilled #40.

Placed rib in position and Taped in place this time! I also made sure I could see center scribe line on the rib thru the pilot holes I just drilled in the tip. Installed the tip with rib on wing and drilled the rib going from top to bottom alternating. Came out real nice.

Removed the tip and rib and deburred and preped for primer and then primered.

Counter sunk for rivits in the glass using micro stop all 20 hles on each wing and then installed both ribs and rivited in place

Installed both tips back on wing. All lines up nicely. I then clecoed every other hole and then drilled theothers up to #27 for the # 6 screws I will be using to secure tips with.

Hope to get most of the nut plates installed tomorrow but I will need to order about 40 more as
