Brief Description:  Flap push rods and flap fitting

1. flaps are already installed but will not retract without rubbing against the fuse skin. Marked the locations that rub. Then with flap hanging, I file and check file check etc.. until the fit is right and then move to the bottom to mark the cut line as per drwg 80. Move to other flap and repeat

2. Cut the second flap rod to 6.5 inches from some AT6-058 and then polished the ends

3. Used a #3 drill as per plans to drill each end of both flap rods to a 1 inch depth. Did this on the drill press

4. Tap both ends of each rod with 1/4X28 tap and then installed a rod end bearing with lock nut on the upper end. The lower rod end bearings I installed in the flap inbd rib as per dwg 80. Plans have you remove the aileron and flap, install the rodend with rod attached and then slide flap and rod into position and then reinstall aileron. I found that this was not necessary! I attached the lower bearing to the flap without rod screwed on, Slid rod down through floor, raised flap up enough to align the bearing to rod and then just turned the rod until tightened all the way. Then align flap with aileron and flap actuator in full up position, count rotations of rod and then equal rotations on upper bearing untill the rod upper bearing aligns with the actuator hole and insert the bolt. Left side went ok and sems to make full up down travel without rubbing anywhere. The right side rod however is not working so smooth as it is not lining up due to a clearence issue with the floor. I will work this out later

5. Looked at the fitting of the flap faring some but havent quite figured out how best to tackle that yet. Will hopefuly get some info from other builder sites.
