Brief Description:  Fitting windscreen to canopy and rollbar-1

Dug out my wind screen and dusted it off. The last time I had it out was during the "big Cut". The edges at that time were just smoothed over and then put away. Since then the canopy was installed and rivited and the fwd edge dressed. That means the windscreen would not be expected to fit any longer. It doesent!

I could see that the edge that should meet flush with the canopy had some waves in it. I somewhat set it in place and marked the areas that could use some sanding. I tried a long straight bord with paper and then tried the electric sander.ack and forth. Not working too well. I finally decided that I needed to get some clecos in to hold it best fit and then work on the sanding.

I marked drill holes in the roll bar every 3.5 inches

I put layers of foam backed tape in the areas on left side where the windscreen sits too low as necessay to raise flush with canopy.

I then positioned the windscreen so that I had the best fit gap I could and taped it in place.
The plans show a 1/16 gap betwen the windscreen and canopy and I was able to get the screen set in place so that the widest gap I have is 1/16 in just one area already. The plan will be to sand as required untill that gap is even all the way around. Should work fine....I hope!

I then drilled pilot holes with a 3/32 drill bit thru the plexi into the roll bar. Yes, I used a regular bit for this and didnt have an issue. I will ofcourse use a unibit when I enlarge the holes in plexi for the #6 screws that are to be used. I started in top center and worked down each side so that I can avoid puckering of the windscreen. Eventually, I will replace the tape spacers with nylon washers or equivalent.

Tomorrow I hope to get it sanded for even gap and have the holes drilled.
