Brief Description:  Drill canopy to frame-1

1. Turned canopy upside down and final dressed the edges. I will need to cut some more off for final instal size but I need smooth finish for clamping and drilling now. Ill make the final cut line after its all drilled and clecoed to frame

2. Got the canopy clamped on to the frame and centered. Took a couple tries. Started in the back and worked forward. Once clamped I noticed it moved enough forward that a couple of relief holes needed to be redone. So off it comes and out comes the dremel, sand, edge, buff, etc. Then back on....Looks good now

3. Remeasured along bottom for drill locations and then marked

4. Drilled with regular #40 drill bit starting aft and working fwd and clecoing as I go. Left the clamps in place just in case. Plans called for 48 holes but we came out with 68. They called for aprox 2 inch spacing and when done that way, 68 holes is what you get. Typo on plans? dono??
I used a block to make sure I was square with the plexi.

5. Used some pin stripe tape to mark the center of bow on the plexi and then measured 21 drill spots on it 2 1/8" apart roughly and a bit frward of the tape since drilling is a slight angle to the bow where the canopy actualy rests. I hope this is good.

6. Pilot drilled the plexi around the bow and into the steel.

7. Removed all 99 clecoes and then the clamps and put canopy on table . Inspected for cracks. No cracks were noted.

8. Celebratory brewsky.

9. Plan the next work session for drilling up the pilot holes to either #27 as plans say, Or 5/32 since thats what I have on a unibit and others have done, Or....1/4" and using an insert bushing made from RC fuel line to provide a cushing and also to center the rivit in the hole with its ID of 1/8. All have been done by others. Now to ponder this...
