Brief Description:  canopy cutting-1

1. Hangar temps were 82 degrees so why not start cutting on the canopy bublble? I first sat it out in the sun for an hour before bringing inside the hangar. Sat the bubble on two saw horses.
2. Marked aprox center line in front and back
3. Vans has a faint cut line around this thing but its only aproximate. The lines along the sides are right where the flange ends so they realy arent necessary. The front and back lines are a bit higher upp however. Goal today is to cut the flange off in front and back leaving the flang along the sides for support.
4. Purchased a better dremel and a couple of sanders to use to smooth edge after making cuts.
5. Made 3 series of cuts in front and one in back. After each cut in front, we positioned the bubble on fuse and noted where the gaps were and remarked for next cut. Did this 3 times. It still needs to come down quite a bit but these smaller cuts are getting me accustomed to the change each cut makes and how to mark for thext. Just trying to be careful here.

Note: About the leaving a flange length along each side. It sounds like a good idea and it does help control how much the bubble splays out in that area but....the more I think about this, the more it bothers me to think of those 4 end points of a cut line that are definate stress points. I did hit each point with a round file etc but each time we move this thing I cant help but wonder if it would be better to cut the length off and sand real good? More on this later
