Brief Description:  Canopy slide spacer and cap 1

Today started on the finish kit.
1. Used the solder iron to cut a 1 inch path down the center of the turtle deck where the canopy slide spacer will attach

2. Used a plum line to locate and mark the center line on the turtle deck. Used the center most rivit in the rail receptical and ran back to last bulkhead center.

3. Trimmed the front bottom of slide spacer to dimension shown on dwg46. The belt sander worked well and then polished with scotch brite wheel.

4. Tweeked the bend in the c804 spacer until it fit the drwg. I then Bent the c805 cap to fit over the c804. I dont kow why but I spent way to long on this. I just had problems getting it to fit cleanly.

5. Studdied the plan and scratched head before proceeding to mark the rivit and screw hole locations on the spacer cap. Center punched.

6. Clamped the cap to the spacer and drilled all the holes with #40 and clecoed. I had circled the holes that are to be drilled to 1/8" and then drilled those 9 holes to final size.

I find it hard to believe that I spent 5 hours on this but I did. There was a good deal of time lokking at the plans and making sure I was marking the hole locations properly.

Still have a few more holes to drill. Some deburring and counter sinking and then the double flush rivitting to do yet before mounting this on the fuselage.
