Brief Description:  Cowl firewall hinge 2

Ok, so dwg tells us to refrence dwg 21 for details on the upper cowl firewall hinge and the location of the gap that will allow retention of the pins but also removal of pins via the oil door. Well, Yhere is no dwg 21 nor is there any ref to a deletion or change. Dont figure!!!! I found what I needed by going thru all the drawings and on dwg 60 there it was! hmmmm Lucky for me I placed the hinge corectly any way but I didnt know where to stop and just figured once I found out where the gap was, I wouild cut hinge off and slide over for the gap. Sounded good but when I slid hinge down, holes didnt line up in hinge. This is because the evenly spaced rivit holes become closer together when it hits the radius. Duh! So I cut of another hinge segment and redid that segment. Unlike Vans was known fo early in build with being stingy with excess material, they seemed to supply more than enough hinge this time.
The Hinge eyelets bind up with eachother in the radius and require tapering. This is somewhat time consuming but works.
Reinstalled the hinges with supplied stainles steel hinge pins. The hinge pins that come in the hinge are aluminum and will not be used. Also, The hinge pin in top hinge is reduced from 0120 to 090 diameter per plans. This so that it can be possible to push the pin thru the tight radius
I now need to figure out how I want to fab a retainer clip and then move on to fitting the upper cowl.
