Brief Description:  First engine start and run

Quite a windy day so decided to run the engine partially inside the hangar. Just stuck the back end out the door and had the FWF portion inside
.
We spent some time getting the Citabria moved out and then the area cleared for the run.

I had my halon fire extinguisher and a CO2 fire extinguisher was offered as well on standy. If the 1st two didnt do the job I had a third powder extinguisher if required.

Brenda was responsible for the camera and ipad video and my friends were going to keep eys on the engine for leaks.

With my starting checklist in hand and paper to jot down some temps and presures, I placed my nervous body in the command chair and went thru the check list. The first attempt was 20 or so blades and no results. 2nd attempt, I pumped the throttle several times first and it fired up on the third blade. It turns out that pumping the throttle should be part of the starting procedures since I do not have a primer. Added it in!

Engine seems to run fine and idles. I tried to stay to the list and jot numbers but 3 min goes by fast. I got a basic feel for temps and made sure I didnt run too hot. Everything seems to work on the EMS except for the RPM readings are about half the expected. I was 420 to 550 rpm for what seemed like around 1000 rpm. Ill have to research this. I also know the alt field works because I forgot to turn it on before start. Voltage jumped to 14.2 when I flipped it on.

Engine shut down came when I got the cut sign! My help were really watching close and spotted a leak and we got it closed down before too big a mess followed. Loose oil line to the presure sensor.

Cleaned up all oil, tigtened two loose fittings, filled out warranty card, ready for next run.
