Gap filler plate goes behind the popeller blades at hub and fills that big hole. It is required to be rivited to the rear bulk plate so spinner can be removed. 0.40 to 0.60 aluminum or remains of the fiberglas aleady cut can be used. Checked my fiberglass remnants and found them to be too small. Guess I wasnt carefull enough cutting out the prop rliefs. So Metal it is! Found some 040 aluminum that I will use
Made a template with paper and then traced that on to some card stock with some minor trims and then again on to the 040 aluminum sheet. Cut out with snips and metal nibbler and then fine trims on the wheel. Multiple itterations later, I had the the gap filler cut to fit and with 3/32" space between the plate and propeller blade.
Massaged the filler plate to match the curve of the spinner and back mounting bulk plate.
Measeured and marked and drilled for 4 evenly spaced dash 4 flush rivits Countersunk the holes
Made another backing plate that will be rivited to the gap filler plate and then provides a ledge to crew the spinner edge to. Pland call for 5/8" lap on the gap plate and again on the spinner.
Scuffed up and cleaned both pieces and primered with severl coats of self etch Napa primer.
Hope to get rivited on tomorrow and then start the other side.
