Brief Description:  Spinner installation-the plate nuts

Started the morning off with aligning the spinner to the center of crankshaft.
I spent time first measuring and trying to get the point on the spinner centered and marked as accurately as I could.
I then put spinner on loosely and set up a ladder and board with a long drill bit to use as a pointer and aligned it with the dot I placed on spinner point.
I then would rotate prop 90 degrees and if dot moved off drill bit, Id tap the spinner into position.
After several iterations of rotating prop thru 360 degrees and adusting slightly, I got what looked to be a centered spinner.
I clamped the spinner in place once centered and Drilled 20 pilot holes thru spinner into bulk plates.
I forgot to mention, I had previously made a center line in the bulkplate flanges and marked even spacing for screws all around on both plates for 14 scres on the rear plate and 6 on the front one. These marks are visible thru the spinner cone and then can be drilled. I had to mark the cone on the aft plate first however because the fibergass is cut away behind the prop and the screw holes start and end within 5/8" of the edge of cut out. That makes it a bit more difficult to get the spacing even.

Once pilot holes drilled, I enlarged them all to #30 because that will allow the nut plates to be held on with clecos. Removed the front bulk plate and sanded burrs off and clecoed on the nut plates on outside edge and drilled the two rivit holes for each nut plate. Deburred again and then drilled the screw holes up to #19 for the screws to be used. I did the same process for the aft bulkhead except I did it in place.

Counter sunk all 40 rivit holes for flush rivits and then installed the nutplates using the hand squeezer.

The spinner screw holes were also enlarged to #19

Tomorrow I need to make sure the spinner attaches ok with the screws and also final sand the gap around the prop blades. Might even primer the spinner.
