I about got this red cube mounting delima licked. I didnt like the 1.5" angle that I fabricated up last time so I set out to find some 2 or 2.5 inch alum angle. Found some 2 inch at a welding shop and got 6inch piece for just a few bucks. It was pretty ugly but I got it shined up nice. I scribed the back edge of the cube to the angle while it was hooked up to gascolator. I then measured and marked the drill holes in the angle and drilled to 1/4. Did the same for two mounting holes of bracket to the firewall. I cut a doubler and drilled it for the inside of firewall This all seems and looked quite easy but the trouble I had with it is getting the drilled holes such that the cube will lay flat on the angle and positioned so that the coupler to the gascolator is lined up and unstrained. Easier said than done! Example and Note: the coupler should be tight BEFORE drilling holes into the angle for the cube. If the opposite is done, then the coupler will pull the red cube in towards the gascolator enough to cause a fit problem the mounting bolts. I suppose a way around this would be to elongate the mounting hole slightly. I added fire barrier 2000 to the backs of the angle mount and the doubler and secured to the firewall with stainless 1/4" bolts and lock nuts. The cube isnt secured yet to the bracket because I got too short bolts for it today. I can get those tomorro and finish bolting on. Then Ill hust tighten the hoses and coupler and possibly wire it up to connectors to finish out. I really thought this was about an hour job but....
