Brief Description:  Steel FW pass throughs for wire

I had drilled the mounting holes for my steel wire pass thrus and then clecoed in position after I applied a gasket of biother 100. Let dry overnight. Today I installed the 4 mounting screws and lock nuts to both pass throughs

Instructions say to cut a piece of fire sleeve long enough to pass through the firewall and the steel flange and extend 1 to 2 inches into engine bay. I elected to go about 1.5 inch. The piece cut is then cut length wise and reduced enough to bend around wires and then thrugh the pass through. Thats the tricky part because If you didnt calculate for enough clearence for the inner sleve and the wire too it will be a tight fit. My first one was 3/4 inch pass thru and had plenty of room for the inner sleve to wrap around and over lap at the seam some. The other one was a 1/2 inch and I did not compensate enough. It took great deal of effort to get the inner sleeve in with the 16 wires too. The inner sleeve needs to wrap around wires to protect them from chafing on the edges of the firewall hole and the flange. The small one made this nearly impossible. After I got it done I realized I forgot a single wire. DANG! So off it all came and ran that rouge wire and then this time added a piece of shrink tube to the mess going thru and heated up tight. Then re done the fire sleeves.
Later I will add some fire goop to the ends of these pas thrus and seal it up tight against gas and smoke fumes.
