1. Reamed 3/16 the two attach points for the battery angle braces in the firewall as well as the aluminum angles. Also reamered the lower attach points 3/16. Deburr.
2. Countersunk the 7 rivit holes in the battery shelf for flush rivits. The outer most rivit on each end are not countersunk. I also final drilled and countersunk for platenut rivits along the front of the shelf (4 plate nuts and 8 rivits). I also realized that I only have 2 of the 4 required k1000 4 1/4-28 plate nuts! Now I have to place another stinking ordef!! It seems Vans assumes everyone mounts the battery aft and if so only 1 solenoid is mounted on the battery shelf But... if you mount battery on firewall.....well then both solenoids are mounted on the shelf and thus require 4 platenuts. Ofcourse Vans only sent me 2!!! Anywayy.....I rivited on the two that were supplied. Ill get the other two ordered.
3. Scuff, clean, primer all the pieces to mount the shelf. Paint is taking longer to dry since its not real warm in hangar. I will paint the pieces with heat resistant white paint later.
