1. Reinstall vertical stabilizer and then attach the rudder with the rudder bottomcap loosely attached. Checked where the cap hits when moved left and right. Also checked the amount of clearence there is betwen the cap and the tail wheel stinger bar. Looks to be about 3/16 inch. Removed the rudder and then the cap to make cut line. Used some pin stripe tape to lay out the cut line.Made cuts and then reinstall. Did this a couple times until satisfied with the clearence.
2. Smoothed the cut line along the long edge on each side with a sanding block. When satisfied, I marked 10 rivit holes on each side and drilled them #40 and cleco
3. Prepped the tail light attach ring from cleveland tools by sanding the cap mounting tip nice and flat so that the ring wont have any gaps.
$ with tail light ring in position, I marked the mounting rivit holes and also marked the center cut away section for the light wires.
5. Drilled the rivit holes for the mounting ring and then cut out the center.
6. Sanded the area around the ring to be flush on the sides

Cut the nose down for wire access and interference with spar bolts etc
