I drilled the threads out of the knob to #40 and then drilled a #30 hole in the side of the knob. Threaded the side hole with #6-28 tap. Added some jb weld to the spindle that remains from the gauge face and installed the knob and tightened the knob to the spindle with a 6-28 set screw. I am confident this will work well. The spindle exits the gauge bezel and does not interfear with mounting the gauge to the panel with the knob already in place. Will see...
