Brief Description:  Tank attach brackets-2

Started off with bending and surface sanding of the tank attach brackets to get them sitting flush against the fuse and the wing tab flush
I had brought a bigger hammer and smacked these brackets into submission. I was able to also get a cleaner fit against the fuse skin by sanding the bottom edges or problem areas on the bracket flange on the scotch brite wheel and belt sander. It didnt take much.
Once i had them flush I marked hole location lines on fuse skin and put the bracket in place trying to center the hole locations. Once satisfied, I calmped in place and match drilled a pilot hole #40 through the bracket from inside the fuse. Its a very tight fit and angle to drill the top ones so a long 12 inch bit was used so it could be flexed into alignment. Once drilled I used the angle attachment and stubby bits to drill in the opposite direction from the outside. The very first hole was problematic as i broke two bits off in the hole as it goes through the steel weldment. I went on to the other side and was successful drilling the fuse holes thru the bracket to #12. Bolted in place. Clamped to the tank. Marked drill hole slightly more than the min 1/2 inch from edge that is is required. Center punched and then pilot hole drilled. Stepped up the hole until just under 1/4 and then reamed final size to 1/4.
Went back to left side problem. I was able to get the broken bit out by using a spring loaded center punch from inside the fuse. Came right out and was able to final drill the problem hole. Did the same drilling and mounting as described on the right side.
The bolt in the face will have a plate nut that will be put on after the wings are removed. Also a slot will be cut for the bolt to break away with out puncturing the tank.
