Brief Description:  Wing fitting prepwork-2

1. Studied plans and dwgs 17A and 80 some more and marked lines on the inbd bottom wing skin that will be used as a refrence to find the predrilled holes in the wing inbd edge once the wings are fitted in place and the bottom center fuse skin overlaps the wing covering those holes. I measured up the drawn lines 3 inches and marked. Then I struggled with trying to figure out how the aluminum pitot tube line is supposed to enter the fuse side. Plans only say to use a unibit but no indication of where to drill. I then spent some more time deciding what to use to support the wings prior to fitting. I think the wings are light enough that several moving boxes should work.

2. Attached the scat tube to the NACA vent inside left wing. This wasnt too difficult but would have been much simpler had it been done prior to rivitting the vent in place.

3. Deburred some rivit holes in the top left and right engine mount weldments. The right side can be rivitted since that area is covered by the baggage door. The left side will wait until the top skin gets rivitted on. I also noticed that during the fitting of the top skin, the cleco pushed back a tab on tthe baggage bulkhead because it was not drilled at the factory. Skin and longeron were but not the tab. So I mixed a dab of JB weld and clamped the tab down against the longeron and will drill both next time out. Also considering rivitting the skin along the top rail along the canopy side rails as those are covered by the skirt.
