Brief Description:  windscreen fairing-1

Cut one of my rubber spatulas to a curved end to help spread epoxy fillet

Mixed a batch of epoxy and cottonflox and thickened to toothpaste consistency and added black pigment so that the fillet will look nice when seen from the inside

Spead the fillet in to the base of windscreen and spread smooth with makeshift spatu;a being carefull to not push too hard. Dont want it oozing in globs on inside of windscren. This fillet will hopefully keep my glass strips in a nice even curve

Laid out a square of 4 mil clear plastic and placed eight 1/2 inch X 6 inch strips of glass. Mixed a batch of epoxy and black pigment and poured on the glass. Covered the strips with another sheet of plastic and pressed the epoxy evenly thrpughout the strips. Saw this method on line and it helps to keep the strips nevenly coated and without excess. Peeled back the plastic and laid in the strips one at a time centered on the fillet. Each progressive run was about 1/4 inch wider than than the last. Did this process 5 times with last layer being 2 inch wide and overlapping the electrical tape which will be sanded off in the end.

Covered the layup with peel ply but I almost dont think it was necesary.

I then started to cut more 8 oz cloth for the bow. Cut enough for 2 layers of 2' wide but will need enough for 5 or 6 layers. Probably should cut some 1 inch wide to 3 inch wide too. Think Ill wait for Brenda to help cut the strips tomorrow because she is better and more patient.
