Brief Description:  windscreen5-final screws install, gap sanding, mas

I had two problem holes in the windscreen. The top center and one about 3 holes down on the left. They just didnt line up good at all. The top center hole I just drilled up to a #8 screw and then tapped the hole and enlarged the plexy hole slightly and then painstakingly worked the countersink. I then drilled and cs and tapped a new hole for the other messed up screw. Enlarging it to #8 wouldnt work on this one. Finally got them done and then installed the spacers as required using a feeler gauge for thisckness I needed on the holes that required them. When finished, I went back and snugged up the remaining screws but not real tight to avoid compression cracks from expansion.

Now for the 1/16" gap between the windscreen and the canopy. This took me longer than expected but I think I got a pretty even gap. I finished up by sanding smooth with finer grits of sandpaper and taking the edge off.

Now for the masking fun. I put in one layer of red tape and then a black layer over the red for thickness of edge and a warning that the black layer was sanded thru showing the red back up.
The area over the top is aprox 2/1/16 wide per instruction but mine will be close to 3 inches. Reason? When canopy is freed up after the build up, I can cut the overhang down to final width and sand. Area on the plexy is just fwd of the roll bar and screws. I havent cut the strips for the roll bar yet but I figure Ill start with 1 nch width and work up in 1/2 inch increments to finish width.

Masked off the interior real good and made sure that any drips thru the gap will be captured.

Tied two lengths of twine on each side of canopy frame and ran aft. I will use these to aide the opening process after glasiing the gap. Ive read that the opening process can be quite a challange in some cases.

Closed the canopy up and applied some clear packing tape over the vinyl electrical tape. This stuff seems to release the epoxy better than the vinyl tape. I plan to grease it up with some wax before laying in the glass.
