Brief Description:  Fuel testing left tank-1

Left tank fuel testing begins today
I poured 1 gallon into left tank with airplane 3 pint stance and then sloshed it around by lifting wing up and done enoungh (doesnt take much effort) and then lifting tail up and down couple times.

With tail on grouind, I drained the tank into a bucket via funnel with a screen in it as well as a coffe filter I had inserted. I waqs suprised to note that I drained the whole gallon. I guess the 1 gallon unusabel that is reported by vans is when the plane is level attitude and then counts fuel in the line and gascolator and filter and the fuel pump and since I hadnt pumped any fuel thu yet, I drained all of it.

I then poured the gallon back into the tank and added another two gallons to it for 3 gallons total.

With fuel line disconnected from the carburator, I sat a small glass measuring cut under it and activated the fuel pump. after a few seconds the fuel started flowing and I started my stop watch and let it flow for 15 seconds before stopping it. I had 14 ounces collected and after doing the math, I determined the flow was 26.25 gallons/hour and well above what is needed should the engine fuel pump fail.

Performed the same test as above a second time with the plane in a level attitude and then ran pump for 20 seconds. This time i had collected 19 oz in 20 seconds which calcultes out to 26.7 gallons per hour.

I checked for leaks in the tank and fuel lines and didnt see any so far.

I will do the same tests tomorrow on the right tank.

I forgot to mention but I was able to confirm that my fuel selector is on the correct tank because I had no fuel in the right tank and when I flipped the lever to the right the flow stopped as well as when in the off positions. When I do the right tank, the line is dry so the fuel will take a second before flowing out and that shoulkd confirm correct position from being off. I can then switch to off from there to confirm. This should all confirm the lever is positioned correctly.

Before first flight Id like to find a place to
