I had Brenda take my gas caps down the road from the airport to a custom trophy design shop. I had some ipad pics of some engraving done on RV8 gas caps in california but that seemed too far and expensive. Jim down the street did a sample etching on some aluminum for me and it looked so nice that I had to have him do my caps. Its a laser etching process as I understand it so that the lettering will not rub off. Infact, he claims its the same process used by the military. Sold!I simply gave him my caps, a hand written paper of what I want on them, and wham! he did them. Less than $45 too! Im not promoting this place and nor do I get any proceeds but I was happy with what I got.. The card is pictured below. Just saying.
I picked up my gas caps and then lubed up the rubber o rings real good with EZ turn fuel lube and installed them back on the caps. Installed on wings Facing forward. I'm quite pleased.. Im told that they will not rub off with compounding or waxing etc. Sand paper would mess them up however.
