1. In order to mount the elt antenna under the VS on the aft deck area, I needed to remove the elev ator push tube and temp mount the horizontal stab so that I could make sure the ant clears the HS spar comming off the bulkhead. Marked where I wanted it and drilled up to 1/2 inch with unibit. Mounted the antenna in place. The tip of antenna will flex enough to allow me to clamp the other end down to the rear HS spar later on.
2. Next I need to run the coax cable from the antenna to the ELT. I drilled a 3/32 hole in upper and lower longerons to secure the cable with zip ties. Used a 1 inch piece of vinyl tube to cushing the cable as it cuts across the longeron edge. Also applied some RTV blue in one location more aft to provide some antichafing. Not sure if that was necessary or not but... This took a long time and too much effort with the turtle deck rivited on.
