Brief Description:  Vertical stab attach to fuse and HS 1

1. Cut 9/16 inch of material from bottom of front vertical stabilizer spar per plans.

2. Drilled out a problem rivit in bottom front spar and rib and tried 2 times to get it right.

3. Clamped the VS in to position and inserted the spacer plate in front of front spar and lined it up with the mounting plate. Clamped loosely. Made required measurements to square up VS vertically. Again, spent way to long on this. After getting it square, clamped tightly the front spar and also the rear spar in position and then marked the 3 hole locations to be drilled in the rear lower spar through the bulk head and tailwheel mount plate. This is when Difficulty Started!!!!! I tried to get in throught the access hole in aft fuse and drill with a stub bit and angle attachment. Was not succesful after too long an effort. Stopped for the day before I messed this up to much. Besides the dang temp in hangar was 100 degrees!!

This is a quick build and so the the tailwheel mount is already installed and pre drilled. There is also a small gap between that mount and the bulk head that Should Have Been rivited to the bulkhead as per the plans. BUT it wasn't! Sooooo, two thing have to be doen and both not according to the instructions supplied. Also confirmed this with a call to Oregon.
1. Make a shim
2. Obtain a 1/4 inch bushing with a small bit guide of 3/32 or so and insert in the tail mount via the little access hole in aft fuse. Use the tight quarters 90 degree attachmment with stub bit and pilot from inside out through the spar and hinge bracket.
