Brief Description:  left wing inbd rib nutplate install-1

Today the goal was to get the 27 or so nut plates installed on the left wing inboard rib edge.
Since the screw holes had been match drilled earlier, I used my #8 screw nutplate jig on each hole to drill the 2 rivit holes at each location.

Deburred and then dimpled the the screw and rivit holes. There are 7 holes along the top where the wing walk is that cant be dimpled since its too thick. Those holes are the only ones that are machine countersunk including the top spar webb.

Dimpled the nut plates that are used in the dimpled areas and then clecoed in place and rivited with flush head rivits. The plans want you to install the 7 nutplates on the wing walk area first and then countersink the screw holes with a #40 countersink instead of a #6 using the nutplate hole as a guide

I had a bit of an issue with the first nut plate forward of the spar on top and bottom. The plans dont say to use a lug type nutplate here but I think its a good idea. I didnt realize this on the top side and as seen in photo3, The rivit hole is on the spar. I managed to get a pullrivit in this location but had trouble and managed to scratch the spar a bit. This I will have to fix later. On the bottom side in the same position Im using the lug type so this wont be an issue.

Tomorrow I will machine cs the 7 holes remaining and the spar webb one. The flip the wing over and install the 7 nuts on that side. Shouldnt take too long
