Today was weigh the airplane day! I rented some race car scales from Avery tool company. There are thre pads linked via cable to a control box that you can zero out and then put under the whels and read the results of each whel and total overall weight too. Slick set up! Prep for the weigh in: Top off engine oil to 8 qts Put all the baffle seal material and estimated extra seal to finish out the front seals and laid on the engine. Installed the bottom and top cowl Raised each wheel with the engine lift and starp and put wood under the wheels Rolled airplane fwd off the wood onto the scales to a wheel chock stop Raised tail until the upper longeron was level and sat scale and tail on. Gathered weight data with canopy closed and flaps up. Weighed a second time with wheel pants and fairings laying on each wheel for later flight
Weights are with full oil and zero fuel and are as follows: Left main 518 lbs right main 518 lbs tail 49 lbs total 1,085 lbs
weight with wheel pants and fairings are 522 lbs left and right and tail 49 total 1,093 lbs
the rest of the time was getting a datum line established 70" fwd of the wing leading edge and then getting the length in inches from center of wheel axles to the datum. I have 68 9/16" left and 68 8/16" right. Pretty close if you ask me. Ill check all this again tomorrow.
