Brief Description:  temp install of propeller.

When I recieved my Lycoming engine, I made sure to mark the ring gear orientation to the crank hub before removing it. Today I decided to install the prop and so I need to install the ring gear again. First I tightened up a bracket bolt on the alernator and safety wired it to the bracket. The other bracket bolt will be hard to reach when ring gear is on so I added the wire and twisted it up to reach the adjustable portion on alternator tension bracket and left that end loose for now. Installed the ring gear WITH the alt belt and postitioned the belt on pulleys. I think the proper clock position for the ring gear is so the timing marks line up with no 1 cylinder in TDC position. Pic two shows where I think the ref mark is located with ring gear. That hole in starter housing. I also verified by using my thumb to feel the pressure build in cyl 1 while I rotated the crank and then with a pin light I could see in the spark plug hole to verify. Ofcourse I will need to have this double checked before I go starting it.

Then I mounted the spacer to the propeller by gently coaxing it on with a sledge hammer! Instruction from sensenich prefers a press for this but not everone has one and this is the alternate method. Just need to be careful and stay square with it and then gently pound the daylights out of it! Done

Then After testing that the bolts freely enter the holes, I mounted the prop and aft back plate in postion. Here comes the first problem. The front bulk plate hole are not big enough for the 1/2 inch bolts. No big deal, things like this happen all the time in this build right? So I enlarged them on the drill press. I then install it with the six bolts from sensenich. The bolts supplied have washers with them and thats what I used BUT... The plans say to use these much wider washers. Only problem is taht they dont lay flush because they hit the crease bend in the bulk plate and wont work. Sooo... I either need to enlarge the hole in supplied 0320 washers that are small enough diameter wise to fit or, I nee
