Brief Description:  Exhaust hanging-1 and misc

Started on the exhaust today. I had the manifolds loosely attached to the engine already and with the gaskets in place. I just had to torque the nuts. That required removing my EGT probes so that I could get a socket extension in place. I torqued all the nuts to 180 in lbs.

I then spent too much time figuring out how to get the springs attached to the exhaust tips. I had used some sand paper to dres the tail pipe edges and then some mouse milk to lubricate the ball joint. I figured out that getting one side in is easy if you rotate the pipe that direction as far as possible and then clip the other end of the spring on to the other attach point. Oh, be sure to decide how the pipe should be oriented first and then mark it! This will make it easier later.
Then getting the spring on the opposite side of the same pipe requires a second person to pull the pipie that direction as much as possible and then with a pair of vice grips clamped to the spring, pull it up to to the other attach ring. Then simply adust the pipe to the marks you made for alignment. Thats what I did anyway. I started to get ready to make the support tubes when I realized I didnt have the clamps that go around the pipe and has holes drilled for the support tubes etc. Dang IT! I hate this. I assumed they were in the kit but I cant find them. I should have made sure before I got to this point. This will need to wait untill later now.

Put heat muff halves together and loosely tightened the straps around it one on each end. Marked the corners with a sharpie and then removed straps so i could put a good bend crease at the marks. Re installed and torqued down. The extra crease bends helps to give a nice fit and makes for a smoother fit. ( no pic, sorry)

I tightened the bolts securing the FAB mounting plate to the carb and then safety wired with 032 wire.
