Plate nut install day
I only have enough plate nuts to do every other crew hole but I have an order placed and should be able to finish the others this weekend.

With tip removed and every other hole previously drilled up to #27 for the screws, I could easily see which holes were to be worked for platenuts. 1st I used my plate nut jig to drill the two rivit holes for each plate nut. Doing just half is 19 plate nuts per wing tip and 38 rivits each side.

With the holes drilled for rivits, I countersunk them for flush rivits. Since the rivits are in the lap joint, my microstop wont fit and that means drilling small amts and checking fit of each rivit until flush. Thats time conuming!

After all the rivit holes were drilled and counter sunk, I countersunk the screw holes to accept the dimple in the wing skin that will allow for flush crews. I made a gauge with a piece of aluminum with a #6 dimple. Id countersink some and then use the gauge until the hole was deep enough to allow the dimple gauge to lay flat.

Hand squeezed the rivits securing each plate nut.

Dimpled the wing skin holes for each of the platenuts this round.

Rand a 6-32 tap thru each plate nut to ease installation of screws and minimize chance to strip screws.

Test fit both tips. They fit well! Only have the other half to do yet.
