Brief Description:  FAB work

Rivit on the 6 filter element retaining clips to the FAB upper plate but forgot that the plate nuts needed to go on at the same time. Soooooo, I drilled out 12 rivits and started over.

Sanded the top and bottom to remove the scribe marks i made with a steel scribe. I havent learned not to scribe so deep!

Set the filter element inside the filter box and pressed the upper plate down on to the filter until the element sat proud aprox 1/16 inch. This will compress to form a tight seal when the airbox asembly is secured to the top mounting plate. Once I had it positioned where I wanted it, I clamped in place and marked a series of drill locations for the rivits all aprox 1 inch spread.

Drilled the rivit holes that will secure the air box to the upper plate and clecoed. Did not drill the front section because it will be adjusted for fit later

Disassemble and deburr the holes and cleco in just 4 places

Attached the airbox assembly to the mounting plate beneath the carb. I also had removed the nuts and washers holding carb with some thinner washers so that there was a thread showing after tight. I used the internal toothe lock washers too but didnt torque the nuts yet.

With the airbox in place, I can put the bottom cowl on again and start the process of aligning the vertical position of the intake. This may require the cutting of the airbox and bending of the upper plate to get positioned and then some glass work. So there is plenty to do. Still have the carb heat door too!

Moved on to prepping for the top skin install
