Brief Description: Finish installing all hinges to cowling
Set 104 rivits with hand squeezer as recommended due to soft aluminum hinge and ease of warping with hydraulic squeezer. The process was long. I let the epoxy cure on the 6 hinges to lower cowl and left the clecos in knowing that they are somewhat difficult to remove and clean up. I removed every other cleco, ran drill thru the holes to clear epoxy residue, counter sink the holes, set the rivit about halfway. Remove remaining clecos and repeat the process. Once all rivits set, I went back thru each one setting to final required.
Put cowls together and ran the long hinge pins thru. Still hard to get them in but they do go in.
Bent the two lower cowl bottom hinge pins as required to safety into a firewall flange as depicted in dwg 48 and then marked and drilled tha hole for the pins.
The cowl is fitted and hinged now. Need to work on getting the pins to install easier and also make pin cover for each side. Also, plenty of fiberglass finish work required. It shouild be good to install on the plane again and begin fitting the baffle and top cowl clearence etc..
