Brief Description: Upper cowl redrill hinge and shims
My upper cowl is looking like swiss cheese! Lots of holes now that Ive re positioned and drilled. Today I clecoed on the hinge shims using original holes and then match drilled the shims using the new holes in cowl. Deburred everything. The first photo shows how much of the shim now shows. That how much I trimmed off the cowl after the reposition Marked the shims with the cowl edge and then cut with aviation shears and anded smooth
Spent more time joining the upper and lwr cowl halves at front center by cutting some relief on outside inlet areas and fiiling down. Once I had better fit, I clamped together and drilled a #40 hole in the inside inlet flange area to be used to cleco the halves together when I position them.
Reinstalled the upper cowl on the plane again
Match drilled the new rivit hles into the hinge shims and marked cut line for excess shim
Inside inlet cleco holes
Outside inlet nose area cut and trimmed some for fit
