Brief Description:  cowl fitting 1-oil access door

Bought some 1/2 inch bolts 4 in long and fine thread at hardware store and installed the prop extension and spinner bulkhead on to the engine crank. Tightened the two bolts snug with some wood spacers and washers. Drew horizontal center line. Noted that the fuse is realy level for just sitting on floor. I think 0.2 degree high on right side but not gonna worry about that little bit. I leveled the spinner bulkhead bolts with line for reference later
Removed the front top skin and reinstalled with the baggage door piece and strapped and clecoed in place the best I could. I realized that the firewall upper end flexes in and out easily and fitting the upper cowl wouldnt work with out the door in place and the firewall pushed up where it needs to be first. I suppose it would be good to have the skin rivited and door perm installed but I will try to do this with clecos so I can still access the fwd area a bit longer.
Confirmed and re draw ref 2 inch line aft of firewall front edge all the way around

Followed the plans and drawing and cut the rough opening in the upper cowl for the oil access. This is done now to help with fitting the upper cowl and install

Moved on to getting the two cowl haves to butt up against eachother on front end. The upper cowl fits over the lower cowl flange at spinner opening. I cut a 13 inch circle fromn some scrap to use for the spinner placement and cut the upper cowl several times until it fit over the lower flange and had 13 inch diameter. This requires removing some material from outer air inlets so that they butt up flush too. Note! I removed material from lower cowl in above mentioned area and almost removed too much. I suggest trying to get top half down to the 6 1/2 inch radius first and squaring it first otherwise you could easily have a big gap to deal with later. This is very confusing but the goal is to get front butt jointed and at the desired circumfrence with center cut line in center of spinner.
