Brief Description: Drilling and attaching fire sleeve pass thrus for
Not as exciting day today as yesterday was but... I had purchased some time ago some steel firewall pass thrus with fire shield for my wiring. So it was time to start getting it mounted. I used my 3/4 inch pas thru for my engine cht and egt temp wiries and after pulling the wiring out of the way, I placed it over the hole and marked and centerpunched for the mounting screws. Once drilled, I inlarged the center hole sightly.
Decided to abandon the side hole for wiring pass thru and moved inbd a few inches closer to the brake fluid resivoir and made the center hole and then mounting holes.
Spent lots of time getting the drilled holes debured. Stainless steel isnt the easiest material to work with!
Went to store for some Stainless #6 machine screws and since they only had super long ones I bought them and then cut them to length with dremmel.
Applied generous amt of biotherm 100 fire sealant to the backs of the pass through mounts and clecoed in position cleaning off the extra that oozed out the sides. Will allow 24 hours drying time before I install the screws and then run wire thru and add fire sleeves
Removed the brake fluid resivoir and added biotherm around the opening for the fluid line as well as the mounting crews and then put back on.
The vacated hole near the edge of firewall needs to be sealed off. I found some steel plugs that snap in from home depot and so Im trying it out. Its sorta loose once snapped in but after applying the fire sealant it feels snug now. Ill be addressing this again possibly because I might decide to just rivit on a cover instaed
