Brief Description: Platenut install to tail cone for the empenage fai
One hour you say? Well, thats what happens when you mis set a couple rivits and then have trouble drilling out the old ones. I also cleaned up aluminum chips in the cone which is near impossible to reach. The platenuts called for are k1000 for #6 countersunk screws. These are flush mount platenuts and so I decided to suplement k1100 ones that have the counter sink in them for the screw. I had dimpled the gapseal strip that goes under the fairing and had I simply not dimpled the skin and then just machine counter sunk the fairing, Id been able to use the k1000 nuts. But....I didnt think it thru and so now I had to make it work. Got both side rivited on.
