Brief Description:  Drilling empenage fairings attachment holes and th

I didnt know how to clasify this. Its related to the fiberglass tail fairing attach but has a metal fairing on bottom and then most work is on the fuselage... soooo...?
Anyway, The bottom fairing that holds the rubber seal was drilled up to #27 for #6 screws.
I then dimpled all those holes in each strip.

The upper fiberglass fairing was also updrilled to #27 but not countersunk yet.

There are 10 holes in the upper longeron that the lower fairing strip attaches to with screws and theese holes were drilled to 7/64 previously so I tpped each hole with 6-32 tap (each side).

Machine countersunk the holes except for the 3 most aft holes. Those have the upper fiberglass fairing attaching and shouldnt need to be CS

The access covers were drilled in the process of fitting the lower fairing strip and so I drilled those holes up to #27 and then dimpled the 2 forward holes. The other two have the fiberglass fairing attaching and I dont believe they need to be dimpled.

The bottom fairing strips also must lay flat against the fuse, so I manually manipulated the fwd section to conform to the tail cone radius. Once done, I match drilled that fwd top hole in strip to the fuse skin for #6 screw.

Used my platenut jig to drill the platenut rivit holes on each side and then used a pop rivit puller to dimple the rivit holes. The screw holes were dimpled with a screw dimpler. I will rivit the K1000 plate nuts on when my helper is here next time.

This was a nice excursion from the fiberglass dust today
