Brief Description: Install the stereo input jack, run the wire
In order to instal the stereo input jack, I first needed to decide on convienient location. The panel is suggested but I didnt want the ipod wire hanging down from it so decided on the right side center bulkhead. There was aleady a hole in an out of the way spot and only required slight up drill to 1/4 inch. I did that with a unibit and then installed the jack. Nice thing about this location is that I can access the back of it if I need to through the access plate I fabricated for my map lifght.
Located the wires in the bundle for this jack and since they are not long enough, I had to cut to short lengths of 22awg to reach with some slack. This was my first solder so I snaped a pic. I then covered with shrink tube. I drilled the hole on fwd side of bulkhead for a snap bushing. Did the same in the gear tower top outboard aft side where again there was already a hole that only required slight enlarging. I ran the two wires through the bushings to the jack and tied with lacing cord. Ill solder to the plug next time.
I started gearing up to solder the wires to the headphone jacks for the GIB. I cut the 4 conductor insulted wire down to length with service loop. I then cut back the outer cover to the shield. Poked hole in shield and pulled the 4 conductors thru and then twisted the shield. I stopped here because I need to find out what needs to be done with the shield on the jack end.
Another issue I have is the wireing for the mono/stereo switch. Instructions are not real clear on this. I only think I know how it is to be wired. Im debating on taking the switch out and plugging the hole with plastic cap since I dont need the switch any way.
Spent good deal of time studying the wire diagrams to only slight enlightenment. That time was not recorded.
