Brief Description:  Baffle tension rods

I have a self-imposed prohibition on diving into a critical part of the project after a layoff of more than about a week. In this case, a major remodeling project and holiday travel kept me away for awhile, so instead of going right back into wiring, I decided to replace the two outboard baffle tension rods.

Previous posts detailed my challenges with the rods, but one thing that I had questioned was the routing of the two outboard rods—did they go over the oil lines...or under them? Mine went under (way under) and as such, tended to be somewhat loose—kind of anti-tension rods as it were. So after doing some research, and knowing that there were cutouts in the baffling to facilitate the fore and aft routing, I decided to remake the rods.

I have plenty of 1/8" stainless since I'm not using it for the cowling, so I cut a couple of pieces and began the process of bending to fit. Lots of on & off, followed by threading and installing. My only concern was the contact that the anti-chafe tubing was making on the top of the oil lines, but I have to believe that is not going to be an issue, as that is why it is there. At any rate, the outboard tension rods are much better now than they were to begin with. Back to wiring…
