Brief Description:  Spark plug wires

A shorter session today, with a focus on continuing the wiring runs forward of the firewall. The magneto harnesses that shipped with the engine are simply much too long—especially the four that go to the top plugs. I suspect that Lycoming ships the engines without any knowledge of what aircraft it is going to be installed on, and I suppose that there are engine mounts that require the length…mine doesn’t.

I decided to run the four bottom wires first, as those are at least a reasonable length. The picture shows the right side—I think with a few cable ties, it will probably work pretty well. I’ve also figured out a plan for the CHT and EGT wires—more Adel clamps to order, but the basic idea is to run everything separately just below the magneto harness…hopefully that will work.

As for the top four wires, I’ve come up with an idea to run everything below the oil filter and will install a couple of brackets to route the cables…more to follow.
