Brief Description: Fuel lines & prop governor
When I first arrived at the hangar, I was determined to finish the fuel line installation forward of the firewall. This meant that I needed to figure out the fuel flow transducer location and that's where the fun began. As usual, I started with the plans...no help. Next I turned to the installation instructions, which simply gave two options—mount on a bracket, or suspended—and recommended that the transducer be downstream of all fuel pumps. A little more help, but then I ran into an unforeseen issue—the fittings on the transducer are for 1/4” NPT and flare, but the rest of the lines from the tanks to the servo are 3/8”. Time to check in with the forums.
For once the forums didn’t provide much help. Lots of people discussed their installations, but I could never find any comments that discussed the 1/4” vs 3/8” issue. In the end, I decided that since the line from the servo to the “spider” is ¼”, and since that line is downstream of all pumps and meets the requirements for mounting the transducer, that will be the location. Now I have to figure out how to firesleeve the whole thing…
After deciding to table the fuel lines for the day, I turned to the prop governor. Installation couldn’t have been simpler—remove the existing cover, install the gasket and governor, and tighten everything down. Since that was so easy, I decided to attach the oil filler spout for good measure. Coming along…
