Brief Description:  Glareshield prep and painting

Today was a divided session with work on the glareshield, and then doing some side skirt fabrication while the primer was drying. Since there is no real access to the glareshield once the windshield goes on, it's imperative to get any paint on prior to final attachment. I had purchased a can of good quality flat black spray paint in the hopes that somehow I would be the one guy who could pull off the rare feat of getting a good finish using that technique. It turns out I am not that guy.

After masking, sanding, cleaning and priming, I applied a coat of black and waited for it to dry. I could tell immediately that I was going to have some serious challenges getting a uniform finish. Adopting the old adage “if a little is good, more is better”, I then applied a second coat with no better results. Back to the drawing board.
