Brief Description:  Windscreen fitting

Today I started the process of fitting the windscreen to the roll bar in preparation for drilling it and permanently attaching. From what I can tell, there is a fair amount of leeway in the fitting process because any major gaps will be eventually covered with fiberglass, but as always, perfection is the goal. One of the first things I noticed was that the transition from windscreen to canopy was off by about ¼”, with the canopy sitting lower than the windscreen. The builder’s manual says “don’t fret about differences less than about 1/32”…so fretting was in order. The only way to correct this (aside from some additional bending on the already drilled canopy frame) was to shim the front of the canopy frame at the roller brackets to raise it to the proper height. This was going to have a major implication on the fit of the side skirts, but that will have to be dealt with later. I spent the rest of the session fabricating some spacers to raise the frame to the proper height.
